The Tents

It’s New York Fashion Week.  Yay – I’m excited!

I’ve been bitten. I’m not sure which has had a stronger bite – My sis’ blog or fashion week or the realization that I need a wardrobe overhaul in connection with the fact that I need to give more attention to my looks!

I must admit, I didn’t pay much attention to New York Fashion week before I moved to New York. But now that I’m a resident and work within walking distance from Bryant Park, its hard not to look at each day’s shows and backstage photos.   I like seeing what’s on the runway, what people are going to wear and I like to see the combinations being put together.

I’d like to thing that America’s Next Top Model and Project Runway, Soho and my own sense of fashion has contributed to the interest. I remember reading in Marie Claire (I think) about Mary Kate Olsen when she was on the cover of a mag in a great blue number a month or two ago. Or was that Nylon? I believe both recently.  Well, the interviewer talked about how it can be perceived that she has no sense of fashion because she wears oversized clothes and seems to just throw things on. But there is sense to her methods or to the “madness” as one would like to call it. And I feel like that’s indicative of my fashion sense. I love loose but I love style, I love saying something even if the dominant theme is comfort. However, my style does need some refinement I think because I can do comfort without slouch or without being just lost in my clothes. Ya know!

So a few sites that I’ve been looking at to check out the runways are: nymag.com, Nylon mag.com and then the free dailies.   A few notes, my lime green boden sweater will definitely be in for the fall, deep blues and burnt oranges will be too, I already have a the former in a shirt and the latter in a skirt. Can I hear repurpose, reuse – aka vintage.

I love clothes, do you? They are so much fun!

p.s. we have a little rain today but more importantly to note it was 67 degrees at lunch. That’s a winter I can deal with.
