Breaking Time Mon 1.28.8
I was excited about getting up yesterday. One, because I was alive. Two because I love life. Three because it was supposed to be relatively warmer than it has been so I knew I was running at the park.
Now, I told myself I would do 2 loops but in my heart I wanted to do 10 miles. I got a bit of a late start because I had a 10 a.m. meeting otherwise I think I would of pushed for that 13.
However, I got out there and as usual once I hit the path and just felt so so so good. The first loop I just thought about things that were nagging me like an issue I had with a friend, this idea of me being self-involved which I’ve heard some friends tell me of late and I also tell myself. I also thought of all the friends (7 and counting) who are engaged and or getting married or have gotten married in 08.
For the second loop I focused on breathing and getting a get rhythm. I thought about the big race, focused on being calm and despite the wind I allowed myself to just feel the breeze and my legs getting firmer, I mean they are feeling like rocks almost… the strength training I’m doing is really helping out. I used to have a guy at the gym who would train me for free. His work schedule is really crazy but I’ve seen him during the week at night getting his work outs in. We were supposed to be working out on Saturdays, it happened once. And I decided that I can’t wait around for him, I have to take command of those machines and my regimen myself. Once I get those ultimate results he’ll see and he’ll be like “…oh I’m sorry I’ve been so busy.” I’ll respond not a worry – it’s all good!
For the third loop I thought about my writing, where it is, and where it’s going. I have a few freelance ideas ready to be written so that I can pitch them so I need to buckle down and get those done this week. My goal is to have 6 pieces for this year and with lead time being 2-3 months I got to get busy because, well, I already have 1 assignment for this year but it’s not enough. I also thought about 30 rock and I’m working through the rewrite but I got to speed that up. And FNL (Friday Night Lights) is coming along. I think once the last of the new episodes air I’ll finalize the story line because the show is written so well I don’t want to write an idea now that might show up before the list of shot shows airs. And then I’ll have to bang the script out before the writers come back and shoot more episodes. Hopefully I can project far enough so that the idea can last at least a season besides it’s a hypothetical scenario just to give an idea of what could happen.
So as you can see my mind was going. Well, I was really excited once I was done. Not only did I feel strong I broke another record. I did the three loops in 38/38/39 minutes respectively. I shaved off 3 minutes time my third loop and finished the 10 miles under 2 hours. Now I got to get a 15 or 18 mile in this weekend. Not sure how but that’s the goal. Since it’s going to be in the 40’s all this week I’m going to get another 10 miler in by Friday perhaps Wednesday and then the others will be maintenance runs.
Close to 30 day countdown time – I’m getting excited.
